Father's Day Brunch at Brunei Hotel's Choices Restaurant

When it comes to occasions like Mother's day and Father's day, it's kinda like a 'big' thing in my family. Some might think that these two occasions are just like another normal Sunday but it is not in our family. Every Sunday is our family day and my parents value it a lot. It's actually a tradition which we never break it before and hopefully it will sustain till our future generations.

To my surprise, this year's Father's day promotions were even lesser than last year! I mean.. wow, it was already pretty pathetic last year when I was trying to find a good place to bring my family but this year was even worse. Unsure what are the reasons behind it but it somehow made me thinking that people actually don't think celebrating Father's day is as meaningful as Mother's day? Or perhaps there are some other reasons which related to the business strategies or marketing?

Anyhow, I found out that Choices Restaurant at the newly relaunched The Brunei Hotel was having promotion on that day. In addition, I've always seen people posting up pictures of them dining in Choices Restaurant on Twitter so I guess it should be a pretty decent place for me to bring my family there for celebration.

The buffet cost $16.80 nett for adult. There weren't much varieties of food available but overall, it was pretty good for $16.80 already plus the service was really good. When I was making reservation days before Father's day, I inquired the staff if it is possible to redeem the parking ticket if we were to park our car at the multi-stories car park but the staff offered to reserve a parking spot for me right in front of the hotel's main entrance for free. And also, I was bringing two bags on that day (my handbag and camera bag) thus I had to place one of my bags on the floor. The caring staff immediately placed a 'laundry basket' next to my seat so that I could place my bags in it together with mom's bag without dirtying it. Really helpful and caring!

Food wise, I would say it was just average but like I said, $16.80 is considered cheap especially on occasion like Father's day. Thus I would say it was worth it. But if you prefer for buffet with more varieties of food, this is definitely not what you're looking for. One thing I dislike is their laksa, it didn't tasted like laksa at all so they seriously need to improve it.

Oh, we were also entitled to have a free cake and I was really surprised to see that it was a slice of cake not a whole cake haha! Anyhow, the overall dining experience was pretty satisfied :D

Cottage Grills, Mata-Mata Complex

My past weekend was pretty awesome and I was packed up with busy schedules. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it especially time spent with my family and besties.. love you guys! And hence, this explains the lack of update. I'll try to get hold of the recipes as requested in the chat box and post it up real soon.

I know I am pretty late but I'm really in love with Cottage Grills food now! When Geoffrey highly recommended this restaurant to Hubby, I'd been bugging him to bring me there and finally we made it!

Cottage Grills sits on 1st floor, right above Sweet and Savoury Restaurant and they do share the same management. In contrast, Sweet and Savoury serves Asian cuisine while Cottage Grills is specialised in Western cuisine. But patrons actually can order food from both sides. For instance, when dining in Cottage Grills, patrons may order some food items from Sweet and Savoury but not too much.

The restaurant isn't that big but it's good enough to host about 30 people or slightly more than that. Environment and ambience was really cosy and somehow gave me a vintage home feel. With two big flat screen televisions equipped, patrons can enjoy watching food variety shows while waiting for their food to come.

Cottage Grill does have "happy hour" session for which patrons are able to enjoy singing karaoke during afternoon time from 2PM to 5PM. It is open on every Tuesday to Sunday from 11AM - 2PM and 6PM - 10PM.

Like I mentioned this restaurant is specialized in Western cuisine thus no Asian food is on the menu. And to my surprise, even pasta isn't served.

One good thing that I like about dining here is that patron can actually add on to the order. For example, if I ordered Grilled Salmon Steak but at the same time I'd like to have some ox-tongue steak, I could do so by ordering a piece of it (or perhaps two if you want more). But do take note that for this individual side order, there are no side dishes served hence the huge differences in prices if you come this with the main course set. We actually ordered quite a lot of side dishes on that night :D

I should have try their fresh fruit juice instead of ordering this, argh... but never mind lar, next time!

cottagegrill-8
Complimentary garlic breads; we got 2 baskets of this and we ordered two main courses actually thus I guess 1 basket for each order?

This was my main course, Ribeye Steak! It was so heavenly delicious and I am seriously truthful in telling this, no bluffing! I don't really like to have my steaks prepared well done thus I requested for it to be prepared medium well. The moment when I sliced the steak, I could see blood *slurps* Meat was tender, succulent and pinky! A highly recommended dish!

cottagegrill-19
I had mashed potatoes instead of fries and it was yummy too!

cottagegrill-20
Look at this! WOOOOW!

I'll definitely make a return visit again to Cottage Grill! I really enjoyed the food there although it was very fattening but don't care already. Eat first, think later! In fact Hubby already made a second visit there without me *pouts* Anyhow, hope I can make a return visit real soon! Can't wait to try out other items on the menu!
