Dinner at Tafu Restaurant

Had a chance to drop by Tafu Restaurant (located at Jalan Tutong) for dinner the other night. Surprisingly, they serve dinner set although they didn't somehow seemed promoted it cause I didn't see any of the set menu placed on each table; we were only given the set menu upon requesting.

Anyways, I would say that the dinner set was quite cheap considering 4 dishes + soup and it cost only $25 for 4-5 persons per set. Of course, it was just pretty normal dishes and not those high end menu like abalone, sea cucumbers and etc. Or maybe I shall call it home cooked dishes. Taste wise, although those were just simple dishes but they were all nicely presented and sure had the home cooked feeling. Especially the Steamed Tofu with Century Eggs dish, it just made us kept asking for more! Not to forget the Chinese style Spare Ribs too, meat was so tender and tasted tad of sweetness, perfect!

Overall, I would say that it was really a great dining experience as certainly wouldn't mind to make a revisit soon!

p/s: $25 per set doesn't include price for rice; it was mainly the price of dishes :)

Kaizen Japanese Restaurant, Kiarong

Couldn't believe that it had been 2 years since my last visit to Kaizen. I guess this does not only happen to us but also to most people that whenever it comes to Japanese food, the first choice on the list is always Excapade. Well, this could be due to the fact that Excapade is located 'almost' everywhere in Brunei.

But this time, Hubby and I decided to try out something else upon receiving quite a few positive feed backs from people regarding it's food quality. I do agree with them especially after witnessing how the sushi chefs made sushi (they really paid high attention on hygiene when making sushi). Hubby and I was quite amazed with it. Their work station was really clean and neat.

Just like other Japanese restaurants, the items available in the menu are quite similar. Taste wise, I would think that there isn't any much difference. We ordered a bowl of Beef Ramen and the ramen was topped with generous portion of beef which the beef was really tender and well flavoured. It definitely worth trying if you're unsure what to order during your visit.

Another thing to take note is that, Kaizen is pretty small and tight thus I wouldn't think it's really a good place for big gatherings. And also to avoid disappointment, it's always better to make reservation in advance.

Reservation number: Kiarong branch - 2452662, Seria branch - 3222662
