Bid Goodbye to 2010 and Welcome 2011!

Many had tweeted or blogged bout how they think of their 2010. Some enjoyed it, some did not and some didn't even wanna recalled it. As for me, I would say it was quite a productive year for me, Hubby as well as our humble blog and I'm gonna list out the beautiful or saddening memories that had happened this year.

1. First of all, Food-Hungry was featured in the Borneo's magazine named BIG! And we feel really honored!

2. Increased in Food-Hungry's statistic (even before we got featured in the magazine)!

3. Finally visited Taiwan, a country which I had been wanting to visit ever since I was still a young girl and I even bumped into celeb!

4. Visited the world's 2nd tallest building, Taipei 101.

5. Lost 4 close relatives of mine; may them rest in peace :')

6. Dined at one of the strangest themed restaurants in the world.

7. Dined at Jay Chou's restaurant!

8. Traveled with big group of friends!

9. Visited KK 3 times this year.

10. Bumped into my primary 6 classmate at a club in KK; happy reunion (we hadn't met for bout 7 yrs!) but awkward location.

11. Finally visited UBD's IM building after studying there for 3 years, lol!

12. Renewed gym package and found new love in sports; spinning!

13. Bought my first Adidas shoes and it's purple!

14. Watched ABL's match in stadium.

15. Became a lomographer, woot!!!!!!

16. Cried like what when sending Shin and Fox off at airport :(

17. Finally set my target and hoping to see visible results in years and am working hard to achieve it!

18. 7 years and still going strong

19. Became an Android user.

20. Bought a pink laptop!

Okay, from this list you can tell I was really spendthrift haha so I really hope I will spend less in 2011 and upcoming years! Money had been flowing out like water, seriously not a good sign.

Anyways, the Hungryduo and Food-Hungry are wishing everyone to have joyous new year and enjoy your last day in 2010!

Kota Kinablu Trip (Dec 2010) - Day 1

As promised, here is an entry of our day 1 in KK!

It all started sometime in Jul or Aug when Hubby said that he wanted to visit KK by car in Dec. The others were being curious as they had never experienced the 'fun' and 'adventure' road trip of visiting KK by car decided to join us too!

Although the 6 hrs road trip was quite tiring but I still find it wise to travel to KK by car cause of the transportation in town. It's cheaper (no taxi fares) and more convenient to travel around the city as some shopping complexes are quite far apart and in terms of tasty and cheap food, they always happened to be located outside the city area.

On Wednesday, we met up at George's place as early as 4.30am! Everyone were still feeling sleepy and blur blur. Some didn't even sleep on the night before. After everyone had arrived, we started our journey at 5.15am to the Kuala Lurah custom and queued there. When we thought we were considered early, there were actually people who reached there even earlier than us. Guess that they actually started queuing before 5am!

kkdec2010-1
Moment before we started our road trip~

As we woke up early thus none of us actually had decent breakfast thus we decided to settle our breakfast at Boon Hua kopitiam in Limbang town.

kkdec2010-2
Finally reached Limbang

kkdec2010-3
Had Kolo Mee for breakfast

Without wasting time, we headed to the jetty at Limbang border to catch the ferry in order to get over to Temburong. As it was pretty early so the queue wasn't that 'horrified' yet. The journey was smooth and I surely believe we could even reached KK city within 4 -5 hrs instead of 6 hrs haha

We were staying at Marina Court Condominium thus the first thing we did when we reached KK was to check in our apartment. However, it wasn't that successful in the first place. I reserved and paid for the apartment through Agoda and when I handed over the booking voucher to the receptionist, she told us that we didn't book the apartment from their company. This surely had scared the hell out of us. I asked the receptionist to double check and she explained that the apartment was no doubt Marina Court but different person in charge. We were really confused! I kindly asked her to help us to find out who should I look for but she replied she had no idea. Then I asked if she could lend us pc with internet connection so I could search for some info online and she ignored my request. At that moment, we really thought we were gonna spend our nights in KK sleeping in cars haha

Thank God we remembered that we did make a phone call to KK Suites person in charge and we quickly phoned him to seek for help and he became our life savior! Well, you're also confused right? Let me explain, Marina Court Condominium is under Promenade Groups (I think) but there were some units of apartments which were sold out to other buyers which the one we booked were actually under KK Suites not Promenade Groups. Therefore, even though the apartment still located within Marina Court but we should not check in at the lobby counter. In fact we had to look for the person in charge of the apartment which in our case was KK Suites.

Although the problem was solved but I still disliked the attitude and sucky service provided by the receptionist of Marina Court Condo.

Since the apartment would only be ready by 2pm (it was merely 12.30pm) so we decided to hunt for food! And guess where?

B-U-R-G-E-R.K-I-N-G!!!!!!

Traffic in KK was so bad which actually took us about 45mins to 1 hour to settle down in Burger King when it should be less than half hour since the distance from our apartment to Burger King wasn't that long.

kkdec2010-4
While searching for parking, we saw this scene. Unsure why there were so many umbrellas placed there.. for sale kah?

kkdec2010-5
Finally reached Burger King! It was so hard to get a parking!

kkdec2010-6
We opted for their Family Set

kkdec2010-7
It consisted of 4 burgers, 1 bottle of coke, fries, apple pie and onion rings

kkdec2010-8
Wee: "want some pie?"

kkdec2010-12

kkdec2010-15
Bill!

After lunch we crossed the road and went to Wisma Merdeka which was just metres away from Burger King.

kkdec2010-16
Saw long queue at this Takoyaki stall and assumed that it must be tasty thus we joined the crowd and queued up too!

kkdec2010-17
The takoyaki was really cripsy but the filling was rather hollow and not so starchy. I think this is up to one's preference. I, myself think that this version is better as I often feel 'geli' after having more than 2 starchy takoyakis. On side note, the staff would also ask if you wanna add some wasabi or chili powder which I suggest you to think twice before making decision cause it was really spicy!

After long hours in car, we felt really exhausted and didn't have much energy left to continue shopping thus we decided to return to apartment to have some rest before dinner.

kkdec2010-19
Weather in KK was quite unpredictable

kkdec2010-18
The apartment where we stayed

kkdec2010-20
Waiting for the rests to arrive...

kkdec2010-21
But they just never arrived! It appeared that they got lost >.<

Anyways, they still managed to find the way back to apartment after 15-20mins haha

kkdec2010-22
Just a few minutes after we entered our apartment, it started raining cats and dogs *phew*

kkdec2010-23
Api-api centre at night

On our first night in KK, we decided to have scrumptious seafood dinner! Although there were quite a few popular seafood restaurants located nearby our apartment but we decided to spend some time and effort and traveled down to somewhere further for cheaper seafood which we choosed Salut Seafood Restaurant. The restaurant was really really far which was approximately the distance from Bandar Seri Begawan to Tutong town, far or not for just a meal?

But it was really worth the trip!

Food was cheap and the seafood was really fresh!

kkdec2010-49
This guy very happy on that night!

kkdec2010-50
These three felt very full after dinner and the middle one was so full that he couldn't even drive haha!

kkdec2010-51
Then this guy so selfish lar! Bought the ice cream himself X(

Salut Restaurant closes quite early like 10pm or 10.30pm so if you wanna visit it, do make it early as the restaurant is really far from town (like 45mins - 1hr road trip). The total bill for our dinner on that night was RM438! I find it quite cheap as it there were 11 of us which mean the average cost per person was RM40 only!

It was already quite late when we finished our dinner thus we decided to look for some place to chill and relax. In which, we ended up at Firefly Bar & Grill located at Times Square.

It was my first visit to KK Times Square and I must say if you're looking for some places for night entertainment, that's the place! There were quite many interesting clubs/pubs in that area with contemporary design and out of these I think White Room and Firefly were the most popular ones. However, my friends found White Room quite boring so since Kiat suggested us to visit Firefly thus we decided to try it out.

Turned out it was really a great place with great ambience and great band and we made a great decision for visiting it instead of White Room! Really thumbs up to the live band! They performed many new and popular tracks such as BEP's "Time of my life (Dirty bit)", Colby 'O Donis's "What you're waiting for" and they even combined the both versions of Rihanna and Eminem's "Love the way you lie". What awed all audiences was the moment when the female singer sang "没那么简单" by 黄小琥. AWESOMEEEE!!!!

Below are some pictures taken at Firefly;
