Senja Lounge, Riverview Hotel

Earlier this month, I had my birthday celebration at Senja Lounge. Different from previous years, this year I had a quiet and peaceful dinner with the special one *ahem*
Thanks to all my beloved family and friends for showering me with lotsa wishes and birthday greetings. I feel really blessed!
Although October wasn't quite a good month to me, I did learn some important lessons and experiences during this period.
There are lotsa unknowns ahead and be it good or bad ones, no matter what we all gotta learn to overcome the obstacles or challenges and not letting it to overcome us instead.
What's more important is to keep positive attitude and be optimistic.
Things always happen for a reason and I have always believe that "when God closes a door, somewhere he opens another window".
So, never give up! There will be a solution to every problems.
Good luck everyone and enjoy your Halloween!

senjabdaydinner-6
Initially I wanted to ordered the Bluecheese Claypot but it might not be a wise choice since there were just two of us (the claypot is enough for 4). Thus, we ended up ordering Cheesie Garlic Bread which cost $6. It's definitely a great option if you're facing situation like me ^^

senjabdaydinner-7
Fisherman's Catch, $22. After reading the description of this dish from the menu, we decided to give it a try but little did we know the seafood was all deep fried until it was served. Big mistake. Like I mentioned it was all fried food, thus we both felt really greasy after the meal.

senjabdaydinner-8
Senja Steak Fillet, $35. It was served with boiled vegetables, mashed potatoes as side dishes and topped with mushroom sauce. We had it well done and the meat was really juicy and tender; lovin' it!

KK & TAIPEI TRIP (14th-20th Jul 2010) - DAY 6 (Last day in Taipei + KK)

On this day, we were leaving Taiwan for KK. And because we had to catch morning flight, we had to wake up early to do last checking for our baggage. We had also pre-booked a van to drive us to airport through the hotel management.

Streets in Taipei were really quiet on that morning and fewer cars were on the road compared to other times. A different side of Taipei indeed. On our way to Taoyuan International Airport, we happened to pass by betel nut stall at the road side but sadly the betel nut girls weren't wearing sexy customes haha

The check in counter wasn't opened yet when we arrived and since we hadn't eat breakfast yet thus we decided to roam the airport searching for food. We ended up in Burger King as I wanted to try our their bacon burger =D

*drools!*

After checking in, claiming tax, we entered the departure gate commercial area to buy some goodies from the duty free stores. Spent up all the remaining TW dollars on few bottles of perfumes and a watch! Very sinful indeed :P

While waiting for the plan to arrive, we spotted the Hello Kitty store and decided to visit it!

All sorts of Hello Kitty souveniers were sold here

They even had a children playground ^^

Our flight was delayed and we waited extra half hour =(

Our in-flight meals (pictures below)

kktpei-392
Nasi Briyani and Fried Rice with Satay (both combo set). I also purchased extra packet of Milo.

kktpei-393
Nasi Briyani; I highly recommend this dish!

kktpei-394
Fried Rice with Satay. As for this dish, it was just average and tasted quite dry.

kktpei-395
The drink included in the combo set.

Finally touched down KK LCCT Airport and Sis Joyce was already there waiting for us. So sorry to kept her waiting for more than half hr due to the delay of our flight =/ She then sent us to our hotel, Imperial International Hotel located at Warisan Square.

kktpei-396
That's how our room looked like. The hotel service and facilities were really badddd. Will talk more on the hotel review later.

Next, we went out to do some shopping plus food hunting!

kktpei-400
Bought some mixed fruit juices at Juice Up!

We were quite indecisive and unsure where we should go for our lunch. Then I remembered fellow friends did try out the Korean Restaurant situated on the 1st floor of Warisan Square and it did look like they enjoyed their meal so we decided to give it a try.

kktpei-401
Korean (Koryo-Jeong) Restaurant

The restaurant was empty when we arrived as it was already past 2pm in the afternoon. But soon after we had made our order, a Korean couple entered and had their meal there too. We ordered the usual must-order Korean food which include Korean BBQ Grill too, except that the meat we ordered was Pork! (yes, it's a non-halal restaurant)

kktpei-402
The menu design is very similar to our local Korean Restaurant located in Kiulap except that KK one have more choices.

kktpei-404
I guess customers can also choose to dine in the balcony area to enjoy better view of the waterfront

Below are the pictures of the side dishes as well as other food we ordered.

kktpei-407

kktpei-408

kktpei-409
Korean Chilled Buckwheat Noodles (RM20); their version tasted much better than the ones I had tried in Brunei.

kktpei-410
Korean Grilled Pork for the very first time!

There were few options of pork meat available but we weren't quite sure how to choose it thus seek for the Boss's recommendation. And he choosed Pork Scotch Fillet for us. It cost RM32 and there were only 4 pieces of pork fillets. The restaurant owner is a married Korean couple who have resided in KK for years and the husband was really friendly and chatty! He helped us to grill the meat and for few minutes when he was away from our table, Hubby flipped the meat on the grill and the boss saw it. He quickly walked to us and said, "No, No, No!" At that moment, it did make us felt like 3 naughty children who did something wrong haha! Then later he explained that the meat shouldn't be flipped always through out the grilling process but only once or twice. He said that the meat would lose its fragrance as well as affecting its texture if it is done frequently. A precious Korean BBQ lesson for us indeed!

kktpei-411
Soon, we could smelt nice aroma coming from the grilled pork and the boss cut the meat into smaller pieces and grilled for some more time. I couldn't wait to try it out already! >.< kktpei-412
Finally, it was ready to be served! Trust me, it was the best Korean BBQ I've ever tried! The meat was really tender and juicy, not dry at all! Yummylicious!!!

kktpei-413
Gimbap @ RM9

kktpei-414
Kimchi Pancake @ RM20

kktpei-415
Bill

As you can see from above pic, the total bill including the service charge was Rm89.10. Quite an expensive meal but the food was really good especially the Korean BBQ Grill. I do hope we can make a return visit to the restaurant in my upcoming KK trip!

Taty's Burger, Muara Town

Good news, another hidden gem found in our local food industry!
Recently, I've been hearing a lot bout this newly opened cafe named Taty's Cafe located at Muara Town. And ever since I first heard bout it, I kept telling myself I must at least try it out once! Then days ago, Hubby was in the mood to drive 'Minnie' and I out for food hunting and we eventually ended up visiting Taty's in Muara town.

Although we weren't quite sure bout the roads in Muara but trust me, it really isn't that hard to locate Taty's Cafe. When you've reached Muara Town, just make use of the roundabout and try to spot BIBD Takaful and turn in. Taty's Burger is located at the same row as BIBD but at the end corner of the building.

tatyburger-1
Here we are at Taty's Cafe!

tatyburger-2
Messages written by customers on walls of Taty's

What welcomed us upon entering the cafe was the fully written and drawn walls by Taty's customers and fans. It's really interesting reading some of the comments or messages left by the customers and even Hello Kitty also said, "YUMMY!".

tatyburger-3
Hello Kitty giving thumb up and said, "Yummy!"

Thus, even before ordering, I was convinced that the food must be tasty hehe

tatyburger-4
Menu of Taty's

Although Taty's is really popular with its burgers but they are also serving other items such as Juicy Lamb Rice, Grilled Chicken and Nasi Lemak. Being lamb lover, I'm really tempted to try out the Juicy Lamb Rice! Has anyone tried it before? Comments? :D

tatyburger-5
Taty's crew in action

Taty's is more into take-away business as I only saw 2 small tables inside the cafe with just a few stools. But I believe with the increase of its popularity, they might expand their business and allow more dine ins. And another note, the restaurant isn't equipped with air conditioners.

tatyburger-6
Our take-away! We bought Lamb Burger and Lamb Kebab; $3.50 each

And yes, we went all the way from bandar to Muara Town just to "tapao" (take-away) =_____=|||

tatyburger-7
Lamb Burger, $3.50

tatyburger-8
Lamb Kebab, $3.50

Due to the lighting, I wasn't able to capture best shots from the burger and kebab =/
I must say that the lamb burger really did make our trip worthwhile! The lamb burger patty was thick and tasted really juicy and delicious! As for the Lamb Kebab, the portion was bigger than what I expected! It was quite tasty too but the meat seem to be lacking of fragrance and meat tasted quite dry too.

I wouldn't mind at all bout heading back to Taty's just to have their burger. The burger is surely worth the trip!

Before I end this post, below is the map to Taty's Cafe which I took it from their Facebook fanpage. Hope it helps! Enjoy your weekend people!
