Remember I made a review on Restaurant Babu located in Kebangsaan Lama area weeks ago?
A few days later after I visited Restaurant Babu, Hubby and I visited Restaurant Aminah Arif branch located in Serusop (which is somewhere near to SD Cafe and Ayamku).
I guess when most people talked about restaurant serving ambuyat, first thing that came to their minds is Restaurant Aminah Arif as it's their specialty. I've did a review on it before but it was Kiulap branch.
And we have always heard how good does the Serusop branch serve so this time we decided to give it a try.
When we walked in, we felt that the restaurant is quite small. But, they do have more seats available on first floor and you can host any function there like birthday party and etc.
After grabbing seats, the waiter showed us their menu and we had the ambuyat set for 2 pax (it's ambuyat + 3 dishes + cacah).
The ambuyat set for 2 pax is $16 per set and to us, it's more than enough for 2 pax. It can actually serve up to 3 or even 4 pax (if you and your friends are really small eaters) as the portion of the side dishes is quite generous.
When Hubby and I finished up the ambuyat, there were still platefuls of side dishes and we ordered a plate of plain rice to eat with those dishes.
Hubby and I both agreed that Restaurant Aminah Arif Serusop branch does serve really good ambuyat as compared to other restaurants serving it. Even when compared to their Kiulap branch, Serusop branch is better.
I'm not good at describing it but that's how we felt after trying two eateries which serve ambuyat in less than a week's time and also compare to our past experience, we would say this is one of the best place in Bandar serving ambuyat.
p.s: try not to order "rebus" when the waiter ask you how you want your fish cooked cause the 'fishy smell' was soooooooooo strong. I guess having it deep fried might be better.

Cocoa Cafe, Rimba
After our revision session on Mon, we decided to visit the Rimba area for food hunting.
However, we couldn't come up with a good decision.
Then Lun suddenly remembered there is this restaurant named "Cocoa Cafe" which is ran by family of our MD school mates. Without a second thought, all of us agreed to give it a try since we have never been there before and we were really hungry already.
Cocoa Cafe's location is kinda hard to spot thus, I've included maps towards the end of this post.
There are quite many choices available and very price friendly.
Their Chicken Rice (you can choose either steamed or roasted chicken) is only $2.50 and the portion is very generous (drumstick was served to me). However, the rice is not butter rice but fried rice with egg (炒底)!
My first time eating chicken rice without butter rice but fried rice and it tasted quite good haha
Andrew ordered himself Fried chicken with chips, $3.80 and we were surprised when it was served cause the portion of chicken was quite a lot, about 6-7 pieces of chicken which I initially thought only 4 or 5 pieces of chicken would be served.
Then Ein ordered Honey Plum Sauce Chicken Rice and they actually separated the chicken from the rice where the chicken was served on another bowl.
You can refer to the pictures below showing how big the portion was served for Ein's Honey plum sauce chicken. It cost $4.50 and we were saying probably during our next visit, we could have order 4 different plates of rice dish and share it hehe
Lun ordered himself a plate of Mee Mamak but he didn't quite like it and it didn't look that appealing to us.
So if you're visiting next time, probably you might wanna try their rice dishes instead of the noodles ;)

Below are the maps showing Cocoa Cafe's location. First one is drawn by me which I assume that most people know how to go I-Lotus Restaurant & DeRimba (they shares same "1st" simpang). Then just follow the arrow I've stated in my first map.
If you're unsure how to go to I-Lotus Restaurant or DeRimba, you can refer to the map below. Hope it helps you. Btw, the red arrow is pointing to where Cocoa Cafe is located ;)

Stall 40, Sumbangsih Food Court
As the title reads, today am gonna write review on Stall 40 in Sumbangsih Food court.
This stall is actually run by my friend, Alister's family and I'm not paid to write this review (in other words, I'm reviewing it with sincerity).
Stall 40 is actually a stall which serves ABC (Ice Kacang) and Rojak. Recently, it has introduced new dish called Kolo Mee. Well, you can actually choose either you want 'Mee' or 'Mee Pok'.
Each plate costs only $2 which is quite a bargain.
Upon hearing this news and also good reviews by Jayden and Calvin, my fellow girlfriends and also Andrew decided to give it a go.
Everyone choosed to have Kolo Mee Pok except Ein who decided to have Kolo Mee. Other than noodles, we also ordered ABC from this stall.
Seriously speaking, the Kolo Mee Pok/Kolo Mee surprised everyone as it was way above average!
It tastes a lot better than other eateries which serve Kolo Mee and is addictive (we went back to the stall again next day haha).
The first time we had it, Carmen thought it was a little bit salty so during our second visit, we informed the staff about it and they accepted our advices. Very efficient.
And it's more hygiene as the staff would cover up the noodles when placing it on the tray and walked to our table.
Although the dining area is not that far away from the stall but there are birds, flies flying around the area sometimes (as it's open air) thus this act has made us felt really safe to dine.
Overall, it is worth trying (and no, we are not recommending it cause of our friendship with Alister). And Alister told me that they are still doing some improvements such as providing complimentary soup that comes with every order of noodles.
Thus, give it a try!

Pulut Panggang from other stall (not Stall 40) - $1 for 3

Pulut Panggang from other stall (not Stall 40) - very oily

Bumped into Vivian and Carmen took a pic with her ;)

ABC with gula melaka from Stall 40 - $1.50 per bowl

The Kolo Mee Pok from Stall 40 - $2 per plate

Charcoal's Giant Steak!
I do admit that I don't really eat that much of vegies cause I'm a meat lover, especially lamb chop! I love lamb chop to the maxxx!
So when I told Hubby about my craving, he brought me to Charcoal to cure my crave.
However this time, we didn't order lamb chop cause Hubby said he wanted to try out Charcoal's steak.
While choosing for which type of steak to order, something caught my eyes.
I came across this steak which cost around $26.90 for 500gm which is enough for 2 persons according to the staff.
Seriously, I didn't know how much is the portion for 500gm. We just ordered it since the staff said it was enough for two plus the steak was actually Wagyu Beef which is something which we both wanted to try for quite long. And we had it grilled to medium rare.
In addition, we were quite starving so we not only ordered the giant steak but also mushroom soup and fettuccini carbonara with lamb topping.
Ended up, we had really really hard time finishing all the food. This is what we called, "Kiang tio hor, mai kei kiang!"
Little did we know how big is the portion for 500gm till it was served on our table.
Both of us almost had our jaws dropped.
But I still feel proud cause we finished all of the food except for the American baked potato which was the side dish. Oh yea, before I forget, the giant steak came with giant portion of side dishes too!
Overall, it was a pleasant dinner as I get to eat meat (till my mouth and teeth was so tired of chewing already haha). The only spoiler was the mushroom soup which I wouldn't recommend you guys to try it out. It just taste so weird lar, made us felt like we were like having oatmeals and not mushroom soup. But I somehow like the presentation of the soup cause letter J is my initial ;)
p.s: as mentioned by fellow reader Lala, i'm actually quite confused whether it was Angus Beef or Wagyu beef which was served. The menu stated Angus Beef but I remember vividly the waiter told me Wagyu Beef. And I've little knowledge on these so I actually did not manage to identify it haha so if there's any misleading information provided, am sorry bout that. Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

Jerudong Park Food Court
Wow! It's been almost a week since my last entry. Thanks to my endless assignments and presentations. Not gonna say much in this entry, just wanna share pics which I've taken during my previous visit to JP with SKY, Wee and Hubby. Had dinner in the food court then visited the park. It had been years since I last visit the JP before this trip. Really disappointed to see that most of the rides were sold already. Really hope to see JP back to its glorious moments again :)

Ambuyat at Babu
EDIT// Upon request by reader E!, I've asked SKY to help me in writing out the instructions to go Babu and he eventually came up with a map! So kind of him lar and so lucky me lar to have such helpful friend like him haha I've uploaded the map so scroll down to see it ^^
The other day during Organisational Behaviour tutorial class, instead of paying attention to lecturer, we girls were busy discussing where to eat good Soto.
Ling then suggested us to try out "Warung Babu" which is located in Kebangsaan Lama as she wanted to eat Soto but Wen and I wanted to eat Ambuyat.
I've heard bout Warung Babu quite awhile ago but never had chance to try it cause Hubby and I didn't know the route to it. Then later we found out Ling quite often dine there.
Hence, we organised a trip for Soto + Ambuyat hunt!
Fyi, Warung Babu is very popular for its Ambuyat as it's very cheap which is only $10 per set that's enough for 2-3 people. However, the side dishes portion is quite little but for that price, it's actually quite fair already.
Days after my visit, only then I heard Warung Babu is not only popular for its Ambuyat but also Nasi Goreng Kampung. It's too bad that I only heard this later after my visit, if not I would definitely give it a try.

Ling and Carmen waiting for foodddd

SKY very excited

Ambuyat and ulam plus side dish. More pictures of side dishes below.

Ambuyat, the popular local delicacy

Ulam

Stirred fried Pakis

Beef

Ikan Goreng
So this is the map to Babu and basically, it's somewhere near to the old Tiong Hin (the bigger one, nearer to Manggis Hua Ho, not the one opposite Pertama). And remember, Babu should be on your right side. Parking is an issue and you would need to park your car by the road side and walk up to the restaurant ^^

7th Anniversary - Pantai Restaurant
It's almost a month to our 7th anniversary and I haven't blog bout it haha better quickly do it before I forget bout it!
This year, Hubby and I celebrated our 7th dating anniversary.
I thank God for letting me to have met him on MIRC (yea, i know, so old school right?!!!) and we eventually started to date after chatting online for a few months.
It's kinda unbelievable for me but yea, we are now in our 7th year since the day we started dating haha
At first it was kinda rocky for us but everything turned well because we both put in lotsa effort in managing our relationships.
It's really warmth every time when we chatted and laughed at each other's funny moments back then.
We actually made comparisons and contrast the way we used to date back then and now.
When we first started to date, we were both poor students and didn't own any transport and of course, parents' permission. LOL! So we had to ask our parents to drop us at Gadong and met up secretly. And we would do nothing and just walked around Gadong area till our legs sore.
And he would sometimes get me some soft toys from Euro Classics which I don't need anymore (I need more fashion goodies and gadgets!) haha
Although, the environment surrounding us have changed so much but one thing that never change is our feelings toward each other.
Sometimes we do really feel that we are quite a something to have maintain such long term relationship while watching couples around us breaking up and get attached. Probably everyone has their own definition to LOVE and their own ways in managing their own relationships but I still wanna wish everyone good luck in searching for their Mr/Miss Right (for the singles) and of course those who are already attached 白头谐老 ^^
Alright, back to foodie talk.
This year, we celebrated our 7th anniversary at Pantai Restaurant, The Empire Hotel.
We wanted to have some oysters thus we choosed to dine for the Seafood Theme.
This wasn't our first visit to Pantai but our 3rd.
I'd like to say, it really disappointed us, a lot.
It was like, after having first round of food, we didn't know what else to try anymore. The menu just didn't appealed much interest to us.
Remember our main motive was to have some oysters (as well as grilled lamb) but the oysters were so small!
Another thing to mention here is that we didn't like their cutlery. Very hard to use.
Overall, we didn't enjoy much of the dinner and we both thought we had wrong choice and should have dine in Charcoal instead.
But never mind, at least we learnt it and would not return there anymore for the time being. Probably would try out Atrium and Li Gong next time but surely not Pantai anymore.
