BBQ + Dinner

Blogging bugs are back lately. However, I might be MIA from blogging scene "soon" again due to stress workload. Just hope that I can handle everything and get it balanced. May God bless me. Today's post covers the most recent BBQ gathering I've attended.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

Few Saturdays ago, Hubby and I was invited by Wee to have BBQ gathering at his place with the usual gang. Great food, snacks, alcohol and belacan are a must. Oh yea, and our legendary Master BBQ too!

Due to Wee's generosity, the bbq ingredients that he prepared for BBQ was more than enough to serve all of us on that night, thus, there were leftovers. And this allowed us to have another reason to lepak at his place on the next day. The aim was to finish all the over-prepared ingredients and I'm proud to say that, WE MADE IT!

Oh, not to forget on mentioning how did we settle those left over ingredients. SKY, Wee and Hwa; the 3 giant chipmunks actually cooked a scrumptious dinner using the left over ingredients! Although some of you might think that frying chicken wings, crab sticks, cooking corn soup are as easy as snapping fingers but these 3 giant chipmunks have not much experience on preparing dinner and watching them getting busy in the kitchen really amused me! 'Kung Fu' show performed by Wee to avoid the 'popping oil' attack, Hwa focusing on his 'task' and SKY trying to pan fry 'flour omelette' as well as the endless jokes. It was really a good 'show' watching chipmunks preparing dinner for everyone.

Where were the girls? Busy watching TV while the guys having "WAR" in kitchen.

Overall, it was really an enjoyable that all of us managed to sit around together like a big family and share funny stories. And the food too! The Corn soup that SKY cooked was yummy and Wee's Stirred fried vegies wasn't that bad! Hwa also put in lotsa contribution and Alan also did good job on supervising these giant chipmunks. Haha great job everyone!

La Mee, Gadong

Just a short update and below are the foodie pics taken in La Mee Restaurant, Gadong.

It's raining now and 15 mins to 10am. I'm running late for my group discussion which starts at 10am *mama-mia*. Alrighty, enjoy the pics! *runs*

Mee Mamak but the noodles used was "la-flat noodles" - La Mee's version of kueh teow or pan mian

Butter milk La-Mee. Looks good and tempting but I don't recommend one to finish it all by him/herself alone. It gets really 'eeewwww' towards the end cause it's really milky.

Twelv Cafe, Kiulap

Weeks ago, SKY, Hubby and I were having late dinner with JC and her friend at Twelv Cafe.
In my previous visits to Twelv Cafe, I don't remember me trying out their main course however, we did it this time.
While browsing through the menu, thinking what to order, the lamb chop caught my attention cause of its price. It was only $10.50 which I thought it was considered quite cheap. However, we weren't quite sure about the portion at this price rate but no harm trying since we had ordered other light food as well thus we decided to give it a try.
The lamb chop that we ordered was grilled with honey which made it really delicious and for that price we paid, I would say it was worth the money.
Other than lamb chop, we also tried chicken wings and fried spring rolls. Oh, and french fries too.
JC highly recommended their chicken wings and spring rolls and she was right!
It was indeed an enjoyable night ^^

Dinner at Lucky Restaurant

During the days when mom wasn't in Brunei, my family and I had our dinner at Lucky Restaurant twice. And during our first visit, we had Roasted duck rice, Sweet and sour fish rice and Pork chop rice. All tasted not bad but I still prefer Gold Leaf's Roasted duck. On our second visit, we decided to try out few of their dishes which were Sizzling Beancurds, Sweet and Sour Pork and Salted Vegie soup. It turned out that only the Salted Vegie pleased us. The Sizzling Beancurd's sauce was a too sticky and the pork used for Sweet and sour was too fatty. Quite disappointing. But I would still agree they serve really good dim sum ^^

Miri Trip - March 2010

On the first Saturday in March, I accompanied Hubby to Miri since he was having a day off from his job and wasn't standby-ing for any urgent cases.
First stop when we arrived Miri was having breakfast at 2020 cafe.
It had been awhile since I last visited 2020 cafe and I remembered how it used to be my family's must-go restaurant whenever we visited it. Unsure why but probably cause of the lively atmosphere plus they weren't sure where else to have good breakfast haha
Anyway, this time I managed to try different types of dim sum which Brunei doesn't have.
It's pretty new to me and it looks appealing but some of it didn't taste as good as looks as the skin is a little thicker thus harder to chew. One of my favourite dim sum dish in 2020 is it's "Sin Chuk Kin". It's a slightly different version from Brunei's due to the sauce where 2020's version tasted a little sweeter (like char siew sauce) which I prefer. We also ordered "Xiao Long Bao" but we were disappointed.

miri2010-2
Sorta like "Siew Mai" but the skin was made from wheat starch so it's similar to "Har Gao", just that different fillings.

Sorta like "Har Gao" (Prawn dumplings) but the skin color is green

After shopping in Imperial and Bintang Plaza, we decided to rest our feet by sipping coffee in Starbucks.

After we left Bintang Plaza, we headed to Boulevard to continue our shopping and also had our lunch there. Hubby had economy rice from a chinese vendor which provides wide choices of dishes for economy rice but we thought it's slightly expensive. At the same time, we also ordered a plate of Combo set from Stall No.2 or was it No.3... but I'm sure that the name of that stall is "Salt and Pepper". The combo set we ordered included sausage, chicken chop, lamb chop and also fries, coleslaw and little portion of rice. It's worth trying in my opinion especially it's chicken chop. The meat is really tender and not dry at all which I really enjoyed it a lot.
