However, if you're taking MRT, here is the direction:-
Direction: Take Red Line to Jiantan Station and use Exit 1 when you've arrived.
Seriously, only later then I found out that Shihlin consisted of two areas which one is the Shihlin Tourist Night Market and it is indoor just like a food court.
Another is known as Shihlin Commercial Area which is near to the indoor food court but need to walk up a bit. And it is made up of lines and lines of shops selling all sort of stuffs including clothes, shoes even restaurants and etc.
During our trip, we made two trips to visit Shihlin area and this entry is bout the commercial area.
Now you see how BIG Shihlin is. It's a heaven to gourmets as well as shoppers!

One of the many entrances to Shihlin Commercial Area. Look at the crowd!

There were many many shops which was like a heaven to shopaholic
Spotted 50 Arashi (pic below) when we just arrived Shihlin not long and I decided to try out their Pearl Milk Tea. This was also the time I came to realise that buying a cup of Pearl Milk Tea in Taiwan is so troublesome.
Well, maybe I shouldn't say troublesome as the staffs just wanted to make sure they won't go wrong with customers' orders and ended up being complained.
Here is the case, when I walked upon the counter, the staff greeted me politely and asked me few questions:-
Staff: Miss, what do you want to order?
Me: Pearl Milk Tea
Staff: Big pearls or small pearls?
Me: Small
Staff: Ice?
Me: -puzzled for a few secs and i was thinking to myself, "of course i want ice!". then the staff noticed i didn't get her question and she continued...-
Staff: Do you want big ice cubes or smaller ones?
Me: *blushed* smaller ones
Staff: -continue to blast me with questions- Big cup or small cup?
Me: Big
Staff: No sugar, less sugar or usual amount of sugar?
Me: Less sugar
Staff: Alright, please wait while we make your order ^^
Me: Thank you!!!
I never had thought buying a cup of Pearl Milk Tea was that hard until this experience at 50 Arashi =____________________________________=|||
While I was struggling answering the questions by 50 Arashi staff, the two guys (Hubby and Bro) saw Modern Toilet restaurant located right across 50 Arashi and this had got them hyped! Thus we all agreed to settle our dinner there before we started our shopping trip (need more energy to shop!)
Modern Toilet applies self-order service; a menu and a marker pen would be provided and just ticked whatever food or beverages you would like to order on the menu and bring it to the counter to make payment. Basically, pay first eat later lar.
The menu is all in Chinese characters thus it's very hard if you can't read Chinese. I'm unsure but probably the restaurant might have English version as we saw few Caucasians dinning there too.
We ordered two set meals and for each meal it consisted of 1 drink, 1 soup, 1 main course, 1 dessert and appetizers (snacks).

As it's a toilet themed restaurant, even the food descriptions on the menu matched the theme. I better not translate as it would surely make you go "yeeeeewwwwwww!"

Bro making the payment at the counter

Here is our bill

As the seats were all toilet bowls and it really made me felt like I was in toilet whenever I turned back to pull the toilet paper haha

The snacks included in the set meal

Pork Chop Rice

Baked Chicken Pasta with Curry sauce and the soup

Up close view of the baked pasta. It's actually a bath tub!
Cute right? Not until you see the 'glasses' they used to fill the drinks.

Peach Juice inside the urinal bottle. Actually the drinks tasted good haha :P
Apparently, these still aren't that bad as it looks like. The extreme ones were the desserts.

Shit look-a-like sundae! Very cute right?
We actually thought that was all until the waiter delivered another dessert to our table which made us gasped horrifyingly!

This is the dessert that shocked us. Looks good right? Wait till you see its size in pic below

My Oh My! Look how gigantic it is! It does look like poo =_________=|||
We finished the chocolate sundae but weren't able to finish this Chocolate shaved ice as we were sooo full already. But it was a great experience dining in Modern Toilet! Food was good although the desserts weren't as good =) The total bill was NT$690
After dinner, we started our shopping craze in Shihlin!

There were many food stalls lining outside the Shihlin Cinema

Inside one of the alleys, look at the crowd!

One of my all time favourite boutiques! I have always purchased their goodies online and finally had a chance to visit it while I was in Taiwan! So happy~
We shopped from 7.30pm until 12 plus. It was soooo tiring but fun! And there were still many visitors flocking in the night market although it was that late already!
We decided to call it a day by having supper at a stall selling steaks. This steak house is located next to Playboy outlet which is also near to Grandee Hotel.

Hubby and I share ordered Beef Steak and Bro ordered Pork Chop. The beef steak cost NT$180 and Pork Chop cost NT$140. Inclusive of free flow of drinks plus a bowl of soup and salad for each set.

Bro's delighted purchase of that night was this Vuvuzela which cost only NT$100 each which is equivalent to less than Bnd$5

Coke

Salad, sorta like coleslaw. Tasted not bad ^^

Soup!

Pork Chop that came with noodles

Beef Steak that also came with noodles and egg

The total bill
During this trip to Shihlin, we bought like 3 umbrellas (Taiwan's umbrellas are so cute and trendy!), Panama straw hat for me (straw hat is very 'in' now in Taiwan), hand bag, vuvuzela, shirts, khaki pants and etc.
Hunnie Signing Off~
