After the interview, my team mates and I decided to have our late lunch in the restaurant nearby called Babu Restaurant. Babu Restaurant is a Halal Chinese restaurant that has been operated for many years. They used to locate at Wisma Jaya foodcourt but have changed their location and currently located at a building behind Teck Guan Plaza.
Years ago when I was still working in one of the companies located in bandar area, I used to visit their stall in Wisma quite frequently and I must say that their economic rice was a must order. They changed their menu daily to offer more choices to their customers and service was really quick. It's been years since I last had it and I really miss it lots. But sadly, during my recent visit it was quite late already so it wasn't available anymore.
So I ordered Mongolian Chicken Rice for myself while Ein ordered Salad Chicken Chop Rice and Andrew had Fried Rice. Probably because there weren't many customers during our visit, the food was served really fast. It took only awhile for all three dishes to be served. Andrew's fried rice may seems normal but actually it tasted a lot better than other places. Some eateries' fried rice was toooooo oily. For Babu's version, their fried rice has "wok hei" which adds flavour to the fried rice giving it much aroma and better taste. I enjoyed my Mongolian Chicken Rice a lot and Ein also agreed that it tasted much better than the Salad Chicken Chop she ordered.
Other than rice dishes and economic rice, Babu is also popular for its laksa and rojak as well as ABC which you might wanna try it out if you're visiting Babu ;)

Hi Hunnie! This joint is actually called something else. Babu Kitchen is just the brand name of a product which sponsored the signboard like pepsi and coke does heheh. If not mistaken they have a branch at the mall food court near Jollibee :) Anyway, I love the food here esp the kamheong(?) chicken.. yumzzz
Hi Reeda, thanks a lot for the information!
I'm unsure about that but most people call it "Babu Restaurant" and I also don't know why haha
From what I learned, "Babu" is considered a family business runs by few siblings and "Machi" (which is the stall located at The Mall food court) is owned by only one of the few partners who own "Babu".
Babu also has one of the best laksa Sarawak. The gravy is thick and flavourful, unlike the one I tasted in Foodzone which is really thin. It's like Babu's version is 5 times thicker than Foodzone's.
Yeap! Babu's laksa has always been my top choice for laksa in Brunei ;)
