Gathering at Phong Mun Restaurant, Jalan Sultan, Bandar

I've always thought I've blogged bout this but it turned out I didn't.
This gathering actually took place in last Dec (2009) when Jances and Hui Hui came back to Brunei for short visit from UK. Soon Tiong was back from Aussie too. It was a Primary Schoolmates Reunion and I was really glad to see that everyone is doing good.
Why Phong Mun Restaurant? Well, initially we wanted to try our Flavours due to its promotion but Hong Zheng could only make it if we held it in bandar area. Thus, we choosed Phong Mun Restaurant.
Most local Chineses should be familiar with Phong Mun Restaurant as it's one of the oldest chinese restaurant in Brunei which has accompanied many of us throughout our childhood years. My grand parents, parents and even uncles aunties used to bring me and my cousins there for a meal whenever they were free from work and also during weekends.
Even until now, every CNY, my uncle would order CNY dishes from them for CNY Eve dinner and this habit hasn't been change.
It's a place where it could bring back good old memories to me indeed.
Like I said I used to go there like every weekends when I was young just for their dim sum and this could tell that the specialty of Phong Mun is its wide varieties of dim sum.
The dim sum that Phong Mun serves is made out of pork (of course 'Phoenix Claws' is an exception) thus it's a non-halal restaurant.
Phong Mun doesn't only serve dim sum but also porridge which I highly recommend you guys to try out! And also rice dishes like Pork Chop Rice and etc.
Having dim sum in Phong Mun would take a little more time as they do not serve dim sum on the dim sum trolleys like Lucky Restaurant.
In fact, you have to order it from the menu and actually wait for the dim sum to be cooked.
But, this doesn't matter anymore when you know that what's going to be served is worth the waiting.
I do know that parking is a big issue in bandar area but do give it a try and I believe that when there is a will, there is a way. If you're lazy to get the parking coupon, you can also park your car at Metro Parking spaces or Yayasan building.
It's always good that some times, you slow down your fast pace and enjoy the busy moments in bandar as well as admiring the treasures that we have there.
