This year CNY was a blast to me as I managed to visit quite many houses *woot!*
I've also taken lotsa pics so am gonna make it few entries for this CNY and today I'm gonna blog bout part 1 ^^
1) CNY Eve (Sah Chap Meh) - Dinner at home.

Sweet and sour fish

Stirred fried celery with sea cucumbers

Abalone stirred fried with brocoli and shitake mushrooms

Ordered this from Sports Kafe at Batu Bersurat (story later)

Shark's fins soup!

Lastly, the home-made Guo Tie!!!!! Best I tell you!
Story telling time: I guess most of you who read newspapers knew that a week (or more) before CNY, Sports Kafe which located in Batu Bersurat (opposite Teo Poi Hoon) published advertisements twice on newspapers regarding their $10 per dish promotion. Mom decided to give it a try and so we phoned the restaurant to make booking. The staff told us that each customer is allowed to order maximum of 3 dishes which made it $30 but we didn't want that much so we decided to order 1 dish only and told the lady that we would pick up at 5pm on CNY eve. Upon arrival, we saw many people waiting inside the restaurant and immediately, I told the staff that I wanted to collect my order which was Hot and Spicy Chicken. But she said that they did a mistake and only realised that they weren't able to cope with all the orders which they had received and asked me to wait. We asked the uncle and auntie who were there waiting for their food and they said they had been waiting since 4pm and some 4.30pm. So I patiently waited and until I couldn't stand it and asked the staff again at 5.45pm there were how many people before me. She replied "7 orders".
Shit. Imagine if all these 7 people order 3 dishes per set each, then I would be waiting till I starve to death. Slowly, many customers came in and started making fuss with the restaurant's owners and staffs. One male customer actually said, "Okie, I've been waiting for hours and in the end I would still need to pay you?" I strongly agree with him. This is ridiculous. Too absurd.
Later, the smart smart me realised that the chef actually had this cooking pattern. They would cook like 5 dishes of butter egg chicken then later another 5 other dishes and vice versa. Me, went to ask the waitress what was the chef preparing at that time and when she told me Hot and Spicy Chicken, I was so joyed. I approached the owner (who was still dealing with lotsa angry customers), raised my voice, acted a bit cute and told her, "I've been waiting since 5 and it's already 6.30pm now and I only ordered 1 dish! I really can't wait anymore, can you just let me have it first?" This really worked! With rojak feelings (angry + happy + dulan), I left the restaurant at 6.35pm and rushed home for reunion dinner. Family was waiting for me to start the dinner. Grrrrrrr, stupid restaurant.
