Spg 66's Secret

Not long ago, i attended a party and which the caterer was Spg 66 Canteen.

I bet most of you guys haven't heard bout this popular simpang in Brunei. Spg 66 is actually located in Kpg Kilanas and in that simpang, it locates 2 different canteens which the one on the right serves Non-halal food while the other on the left serves Halal food. And yes, both canteens run under different management.

I've never dine in the Halal canteen but I have actually tried their food. Remember SKY's birthday party and reunion party? The noodles were actually ordered from them. But today, I'm covering the review of the Non-Halal canteen.

Okay... a lil background here...

The owner of the Non-Halal canteen is actually a mechanic who owns a workshop in Jerudong and due to insufficient of time he has to take care of both businesses , he lets his wife to share his burden and look after their canteen business. And sometimes when you visit the canteen, you would meet this lil boy running around the canteen haha yea, he is the son of the owner.

Like I said, this is a canteen and you get to meet friendly staffs and of course, friendly prices. $3 for a plate of Hokkien Mee and the portion is equals to what we order in other restaurant for price of $3.50-$4. Really worth right? From what i heard, their signature dish is actually "Yu Watt" (literally mean ikan licin hehe) and it's freshly made daily but i have never tried it before because it's so hot-selling. I have heard good comments by different patrons bout it. Oh yea, "Yu Watt" is actually fish ball except that the shape is a lil different, which it's oval... i guess =P

Ahhh back to the party that i attended hehe so coincidentally that the caterer happened to be Non-Halal canteen of Spg 66 and this is why i'm combining both buffet and dining experience in this post. The catering buffet costs $15 per head. Sounds expensive I know but you will know why after knowing the menu; Fried rice, Fried noodles, Top Shells, Mixed vegetables with limpets, Chicken mayo, Pork Chop, Black pepper lamb, Chicken with pineapple, Yam chicken fritter, Fruit cocktail (dessert) and lastly Fruits platter.

Again, the buffet is good, both menu and taste. Maybe a lil complain bout the lamb as i find it kinda hard to chew, otherwise, very good.
