Last Wednesday, Hubby and I decided to settle our lunch at Shikai Restaurant (or known as Pondok Empat Laut in Malay) which located at Batu Bersurat near to Happy Star.
I did a review last year about the set lunch which included few dishes plus soup and good enough for 4-5 to dine in.
This time we didn't order the set lunch (of course lar! two people only ler XD) and Hubby decided to go for the popular Crispy Duck rice and I didn't feel like to eat rice.. and when i just flipped through the menu, i saw something which attracted me... 'Big Bowl Kolo Mee'! I ordered that and had my Mee switched to Beehoon (vermicelli, i'm a beehoon lover btw) and the duck meat switched to Chicken Char Siew (*ahem* it would be $1 cheaper if i order Char Siew).
The rice they served is not plain rice and the fragrance really took your breathe off and the skin of the duck is really crispy just like how they named it. The sauce for the duck is superb. The price is kinda expensive to me. $7 for quarter duck and add another $0.50 for the rice. Total for this is $7.50!!! I did feel like robbed.
This is my kolo beehoon! The bowl is really really BIG but look inside and you will find the portion is just... normal like other restaurants serve. I'm not left-handed btw hehehe I have to say that the Char Siew Sauce is really really nice. I enjoyed eating my kolo beehoon with the char siew sauce all over it. Really tasty! It cost $3 btw hehehe
The restaurant does not sell erm.. 'that' meat but i don't dare to say it's a Halal restaurant either.. But overall it's a worth try restaurant lar~
